Ashtanga Primary Series with Live Cello
Move through the rhythm of breath, movement, and live cello beneath the open sky. This special Sunday morning offering brings the Ashtanga Primary Series into the park with an immersive live musical accompaniment that deepens the meditative quality of the practice. The resonance of the cello weaves through the sequence, supporting the steady breath count and creating a grounding, expansive atmosphere.
Traditionally known as Yoga Chikitsa (“Yoga Therapy”), the Ashtanga Primary Series is a dynamic flow designed to strengthen, open, and balance the whole body. Working progressively through the spine, hips, legs, feet, and front body, the practice builds heat, focus, flexibility, and resilience while inviting a deeply embodied state of presence.
This is a big practice, and students are encouraged to move through as much or as little of the sequence as feels supportive. Variations, modifications, demonstrations, and guidance will be offered throughout, making the class welcoming to both beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
Led on traditional breath count and carried by the live cello accompaniment, the practice becomes a moving meditation — energizing, immersive, and deeply connected to the surrounding environment.

• Live cello woven throughout the practice
• Breath-led meditative movement
• Vigorous, energizing flow
• Whole-body strengthening and opening
• Flexibility, balance, and backbends
